Passenger and Personal Property Systems Branch (PPPSB) Independent Verification and Validation Testing Support
SCOPE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Pragmatics provides specialized Independent
Verification and Validation (IV&V) testing and evaluation support to
software being tested for the SDDC PPPSB. Pragmatics’ IV&V Team has
tested over 10 mission essential systems, including Transportation
Standard Operational Personal Property System (TOPS), Group Operational
Passenger System (GOPAX), Passenger Standing Route Order (PSRO), and
Special Airlift Assignment Missions (SAAMS). We tested applications in
many releases ranging from the Full Operational Capability (FOC) release
followed by two Software Qualification Tests (SQT) and a Software
Acceptance Testing (SAT) through the testing and implementation of
multiple change packages involving a total of more than 100 fixes and
enhancements to the system. For most PPPSB systems, we tested multiple
migrations from legacy environments to Web based 3-tier platforms; small
fixes and enhancements; and data conversions. Pragmatics supports the
testing requirements by creating test scenarios and test plans which
describe in detail the tailored approach for testing each release. These
scenarios describe the screens and data input and expected results for
each step. For new software, a Requirements Traceability Matrix is used
to verify that every requirement is implemented and to document where it
was satisfied. Our IV&V Team has reviewed and verified requirements from
Critical Design Review (CDRs), validated problem reports (PR) and test
problem reports (TPR), verified software releases technically and
functionally, and assisted the PPPSB Help Desk in responding to system
inquiries from field users. Test results are tracked in detail in the
PPPSB PVCS Tracker system.
DELIVERING QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE: Pragmatics completed all
deliverables on time and within budget on this FFP task. Over time, we
were asked to review more aspects of systems, got involved with
assisting and supporting more users, wrote user guides, and assisted in
training and with on-site SAT events. In 2004, Pragmatics received the
“Army SDDC Small Business of the Year” award from the Surface Deployment
and Distribution Command. We were also nominated for Army Small Business
of the Year. In 2001 and 2002, SDDC recognized Pragmatics for our
Outstanding Contribution toward PPPSB with a Team Award.
TECHNOLOGY: Applications tested were developed with Oracle and Java, and
hosted in a Sun Unix environment.
