Art Gomez, Vice President

Art Gomez is vice president and general manager in the Systems Engineering and Management Division (SEMD).  He is responsible for software development efforts, with a focus on command and control (C2). 

Mr. Gomez joined Pragmatics in 1998 as a Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) functional analyst; he became the JOPES project manager in 1999.  He was promoted into increasingly responsible positions leading to his current role while maintaining his involvement in and oversight of JOPES.  Mr. Gomez is also involved with other SEMD projects, including the development of the Federal Aviation Administration’s next air traffic control system; migration to the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) command and control system of the future, Network Enabled Command Capability (NECC) with the development of three NECC capability modules; and support of other DoD C2 systems, including Joint Capabilities Requirements Management, Joint Force Projection, and Collaborative Force Analysis, Sustainment, and Transportation.

He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  His military specialties included maintenance management, force deployment, logistics, and data systems management.  Mr. Gomez’s assignments included service at all staff levels, and his data systems experience included implementing an automated maintenance system within each unit of the 1st Marine Division, helping to design the USMC finance and accounting system, and helping to design and implement logistics and deployment support systems.  He acquired knowledge of JOPES as a logistics planning officer.

Mr. Gomez has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Redlands and a Master of Science degree in data systems management from the Naval Postgraduate School.
